What made you decide you wanted/needed to start a program? Your initial goal?
Before I joined Focus Fitness, I used to work out with a trainer regularly. Then, after my second child was born in 2016, I switched to working out once a week with no real results which I expected. After a 9 month hiatus, I decided I needed to get stronger and back in shape.
What have you tried before? What did you like or dislike about that? How did that work for you?
I have tried working with a personal trainer at a big gym before. I liked the fact that I had access to a swimming pool, group classes, and the rest of the gym on the days when I did not work with the personal trainer. As time went by and I got busier with the kids, I disliked the fact that I had to pay for a monthly membership at the gym and personal training separately although I only worked with the trainer twice a week. The program itself did not focus much on nutrition and that didn’t help me reach my goals.
How did you find Focus Fitness? How/why did we stand out to you?
I came across Focus Fitness in the Balcones Living Magazine. The concept of semi-private highly customized training sessions stood out to me. The idea of working out one-on-one with the trainer and yet interacting with somebody else really appealed to me.
What do you like best about our program? How did we meet or surpass your original expectations?
I love how customized the training program is — to match my needs and ability. The exercises are modified when needed to fit within my limitations.
I enjoy how the program changes every few weeks. It challenges me by taking it to the next level. The program focusses on the mind and the physical aspect. Receiving nutritional guidance makes a huge difference. Dave and Paymahn really encourage and motivate you. The camaraderie is unbeatable. And we have great conversations that I look forward to — lately it has been about the much awaited season 8 of Game of Thrones 🙂
What successes have you achieved since starting your program?
I have been working with weights that I did not think I could lift. When I did a sled push with 180 lbs for the first time, I was ecstatic!
Enrolling in the Balanced Habits Kick Start Program was one of my best decisions. I had great results which were extremely motivating. I had a fabulous time working out with a group of people and learning to eat right.
The best part about the program was that I got to eat rice and roti (The Indian Tortilla!) which I had tried to avoid until that point. I have tried so many different alterations to my diet. This really works!!! It is all about eating the right portions.
What challenges have you overcome?
The excuse of not working out! If timings don’t work out, Dave reaches out with an alternative plan so I can continue to work out twice a week at least.
How has working with us affected your life outside of the gym?
I am extremely aware of what I eat. This helps me make good choices and stay fit.
How have you changed as a person because of your experience here? How do you feel different?
I am definitely more confident, energetic, and healthier.
How have your goals changed? What new goals do you have?
My goals haven’t changed, except now I know I can achieve more with regard to my strength and weight loss goals.
What would you say is unique about Focus Fitness as a whole?
The people and culture at Focus Fitness make it unique. The atmosphere is fabulous. The workouts are tailored to your goals. Dave and Paymahn motivate you and make it fun. They don’t ever rush you. Plus, they are flexible. I love meeting and having conversations with people as I work out with my personal trainer. The best part is I get to pick my own music!
What would you say to someone on the fence about joining our program?
Focus Fitness changed my life. It changed how I view fitness and nutrition. Dave works with each person individually and helps them reach their goals. It is a really positive environment.
Try it. Just give it a shot and you will understand what I mean. This place will change your life!
