Julianna joined Focus Fitness in July of 2017. After having twins, Julianna had been able to lose most of the baby weight, but she was still unhappy with the lingering pounds and general level of fitness. “In addition to wanting to be in better shape, I wanted to set a good example for my children that exercise is important. A friend recommended Focus Fitness for the personal training the nutritional consultation offered, and I’m glad I checked it out.”
At various points in life, Julianna tried to start up and stick with some sort of exercise program without success. “I was intimidated by gyms because I didn’t really know what to do for a workout and I would feel self-conscious, and I couldn’t stick with an at-home program for longer than 5 weeks.” For Julianna, Focus Fitness addresses all of the aspects that previously prevented her from following a fitness routine. “The personal training provides me with the correct technique and exercise programs that change every 6 weeks (to keep things interesting), as well as accountability. There are only a few people there at a time, which helps me not feel as self-conscious. And Dave fosters a non-judgmental space to work out that is welcoming and encouraging to all.”
In 6 months, Julianna has lost 15 pounds (and 3% body fat) through exercise and the Balanced Habits nutritional program. Julianna had a healthy diet, but probably ate too much. The Balanced Habits program helped her to re-calibrate and focus more on the macro-nutrient composition of each meal. “This is the longest I’ve ever stuck with a exercise program, and the surprise is that I have started to look forward to it! I still may wonder what I’ve gotten myself into when I’m in the middle of a work out, but I do have a sense of accomplishment when I look back at the progress I have made. I’ve built strength, and I’m doing exercises I never would have thought I would be able to do.”
